Writer, Director, Producer
Fazila Amiri is an award-winning Afghan-Canadian writer and director based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She holds an MFA in Film Production from York University and a BFA in Film Studies from NSCAD University. Her films explore personal histories, women’s rights, and political and social issues in both fiction and documentary.
Her documentary feature, AND STILL I SING (2022), had its world premiere at the 2022 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and won the Best Music Documentary Award at the 53rd Nashville Film Festival, the Musical Écran Festival, SEE THE SOUND Festival, and the Fearless Award at the Doc Edge Festival.
Amiri is an alumna of the 2025 Nashville Film Festival Pitch Competition, 2021 Cannes Docs, and 2020 Hot Docs Accelerator Lab. Currently, she is in development of her new feature film project, THE LITERARY CIRCLE OF KABUL.
